So… What is this oddly-named Substack about? This is The Egg And The Rock, a newsletter in which I use the techniques of a novelist to redescribe the universe (using scientific papers as the raw material). I have been quietly and obsessively researching this project for ten years, and the story I have found, buried deep in those papers, has completely flipped my world upside down. I think it might flip yours, too. And I think you might enjoy being flipped.
I just recently read your Substack post about liberating the End Poem, because I saw a screenshot of the shortened story from Reddit... on Tumblr (I suppose I was intrigued by the "if you're interested in all the drama" haha). It made me want to see the other things you posted so I wanted to start from the beginning of your The Egg And The Rock posts here on Substack. I'm really interested in the things you want to say!
I was very moved by the End Poem when I saw it recently in Minecraft a couple weeks ago, by the way. I didn't defeat the dragon with my friends (I was busy but wasn't up to it at the time either in all honesty) though I did join them in the End later to look for stuff. A friend of mine had to "walk me home" in the game later because I was very lost in the End haha. I found it strangely endearing.
Leaving the End triggers the poem, I don't know if I "earned" it being I didn't defeat the dragon, but I still really enjoyed reading it. (I will defeat one one day hopefully soon, I'll probably reread the poem then too). I liked the End Poem a lot, I did tear up. I couldn't catch all the words (I'm a slow reader lol) so I enjoyed rereading it and indeed catching all the words at the end of your post here.
